you better get your sh!t together, son!
That's the message of my latest theatrical role. Yes, I have been cast as Jacob Marley in TAC's production of Christmas Carol, the script and score for which were written by some of our talented teens for last Christmas season. It went very well the first year, and we're in transition, with a new Executive Director this year, so we're sticking with what works, and will be performing other original pieces through the coming year.

At any rate, nano 1 is at about 17k, nano 2 is at about 3k ( i know, i hadn't really said anything about doing a second, but I just started writing this thing the other day, and it's pretty good so far. "The world exploded in red and black, confirming my apprehension at taking the 'short way' home." It isn't exactly "The man in black fled into the desert and the gunslinger followed." But it's pretty engaging, I think. I'm hoping to knock out at least 10k this weekend, between the 2 next weekend, with Friday off, should be even more productive. I'd rather go for a steady stream, but things just haven't worked out that way, and with Christmas Carol, it's not likely to get any better. Don't even get me started on the ghostwriting I've yet to actually start, or the _other_ idea that came to me... too many things at once trying to fall out of my brain.

In other news, I need to sell some books or something... I just got my first decent paycheck in months and it's gone to bills ( and still behind on rent) before I can even think about fixing the window of my car... man it's going to be a cold winter at this rate. I'm making one concession/ doing one thing for myself moneywise for now, though, in the same vein of 'damn it's gonna be cold'. I bought myself some cloth for a winter coat. I only actually bought the outer canvass-like material. The polar fleece I've had for years, using it is a blanket from time to time, and the inner liner is some blue on blue plaid I've had for a while. The plaid is thinner than I'd like, but the polar fleece should be good, and I can put pockets for my stuff.. I defy you to find on the rack a coat with a pocket I can put my standard marbled notebook in! I'm also going to go for some fashion tips from the good Doctor, and while i intend to stay away from celery on the lapel, I am hoping to find a suitable compass( hopefully brass, or at least not cheesy plastic) and an old school iron key.  Need to hit some antique stores, I think.

Ah well, rehearsal calls. hope all are well or improving.

Not sure if you've gone home or not yet. Dick replaced the lock/knob on the front door last night. At the moment, only two of the keys he made work, but Bekka is getting a 3rd made at HD after she gets out of work. In case you were going home today, I left the door unlocked.

Well, I did actually go home to drop off those pay stubs ( which are in your bag now). But Bekka had not made the key... Hopefully tomorrow. When next I'm at the house, I'll write Dick a check.

It sounds more like douglas adams than stephen king to be honest. ;)

good luck with nano!

I decided not to do it this year. House cleaning sucks and I'm too tired. maybe next year when I'm at a desk job. :D

btw..the dark tower series is one of the best things ever written. I <3 that series. not really into too much other SK novels, but those I love. :D

totally. he's got 2 basic modes: psychos( not really interesting to me, personally, even though Misery was the first of his books I read) and supernatural horror, which I really like. Dark Tower almost fits into those, but DK and Eyes of the Dragon are both outliers there, kind of in their own third group. Mayge I'll tweak that line a bit.. I dunno. It's just a draft, but it's been one of my goals as a writer to come up with an opener to rival the start of that series. Simple, dramatic, engaging.

The explosions here are the main character getting struck int he head repeatedly.
